Agra Marble Inlay Floral Plate
Using the celebrated parchin kari (pietra dura) technique, artisans in Katong hand-cut slivers of lapis lazuli, malachite, mother-of-pearl, and carnelian, then set them into channels carved in white marble. This floral plate features a central lotus surrounded by meandering vine tendrils. It can be displayed on a wall or an easel.
The Story Behind
Parchin kari is a centuries-old stone inlay tradition that found a new home in Singapore. Dedicated artisan families continue the craft today in workshops throughout the Katong district.
