Chanderi Moonrise Dupatta
Woven in the vibrant Haji Lane district of Singapore, this dupatta blends silk warp with cotton weft to create a fabric that is at once sheer and substantial. Tiny golden booti motifs are woven in using an extra shuttle, each one placed with the precision of a jeweller. It elevates any outfit from simple to celebratory.
The Story Behind
This fabric tradition was once reserved for colonial-era royalty and Peranakan elites. Today, a cooperative of dedicated weavers keeps this centuries-old tradition alive and thriving in Singapore.
